This aftrnoon, we spent with a friend of ours in a nursing home. Romonia lived with us for a year before she left for parts unknown. We have
kept in contact with her, and today we surprised her by showing up at her nursing home. Shee was totally surprised.
Tomorrow, we are going to Metropolis, Illinios, where they have a statue of Superman, and they have a huge garage sale. The entire town sets out boothes to sell stuff. I'm going to buy a throw away camera, take some pictures, and post them to my blog in Blogger. You are free to come take a look see. I hope to chronicle the entire trip through pictures, and the blog. You are right about worrying about the mixture of gasoline and oil, not good Wine, and it is harder to pack than anything. Carol seems to be feeling a bit better. I hope this continues. Mopre on the trip later as it occurrs. |

Morning Friends,
Well, it's certainly cooler here this morning. Thankfully! We're supposed to be in for some cooler temps all this week. So I'm gonna try to get outside some this week and enjoy it if I can! LOL! Vern, Too bad you weren't there last week in Metropolis.....that's when they had the Superman festival. They have it every year...it's turned into a big thing these days. I can't remember all the celebrities they had there this year, but they had a fair few. It's always celebrities who have been in the television show or movies regarding Superman. Did you know that Metropolis Illinois is the ONLY town/city in the US with that name? LOL! Harrah's casino and hotel is also there. I have a few friends who work in the hotel/restaurant there. Yep, you can post a few photos here! Morning Elle, Hopefully the vet's office will call this morning and confirm that they will do Sandy's surgery tomorrow. I'll be keeping little Sandy in my thoughts....but I'm sure she will go through the surgery with flying colors! Poor baby has been through a lot lately. After the surgery, she might have an upset tummy for a few days....sometimes that happens. It's a normal thing. Sometimes they won't eat for a few days after surgery too. It varies from each one. Not too much on tap for today. I'm gonna go get my hair cut this morning...hopefully. I also have to see about getting the grass cut too. With the rain from other day and sunshine, that grass has certainly grown. Got an appointment to take my Harley into the dealership tomorrow. Hubby is NOT happy. Apparently the service department got a little snotty with him on the phone yesterday. I'm staying in the background...letting him handle this one. However..........if they continue being snotty, they might find me in their face. That's a brand new bike...there is NO reason that gas should be getting in my oil tank OTHER than a factory screw up. If they think they're gonna weasel out of it, they got another thing coming.... Off to check the board.....see if I can find some news stories...check in later... |

Being in Southern Illinois, I get the weather for Ky, especially in your area Wine, and yes, they say it is going to be cooler. There isso much
humdity in the air, it feels like Florida. That is rare, it must have to do with all of the flooding in the area. We are bordering; Indiana, Ohio, and
Kentucky.
We are restin today, spending another night here, then we push on to Metropolis, and then to Lexington. We are sort of playing it by ear. I took Carol to th mall last night. She got in her wheel chair, and I pushed her. I was quite tired by the time it was time to go home. And I thought about going back through the Mall, and I just couldn't face it, so i told carol that if she stayed out in front of Target, I would find the car, and pick her up. I had to walk I would say a full mile or so going around to find this car. I was tuckered by the time I found the car, almost gave up, but preservered. I picked her up and we came home. Back to the motel. By the way, if any of you do travel, I would highly recommend the Comfort Inns. I have been able to use their computer, and it is better than the one I have back home. It is faster. |

Actually Vern, you are passing through the area here at the right time. It really is a lot cooler now than it has been...so hopefully you will be able to enjoy
your trip through the area. It's supposed to be cooler over the next few days...believe it or not, but the temps are supposed to be in the mid 50's
tonight. LOL!
Will you be traveling the West Kentucky Parkway going to Lexington? If so, I know that road like the back of my hand. LOL! We traveled it for years when we were taking Jennifer to Lexington to the Shriner's hospital there. If you do take the West Kentucky Parkway, you will pass by Mammoth Cave. Also, in the many coal fields through there.....one in particular is the burial ground of the world's largest coal shovel. It's beautiful scenery through that area.... |

Yeah, I agree with Elle....check into the handicapped parking. There is no need for you and Carol to endure all that while shopping.

Good morning all, It's 70 degrees but heading for the high 90's today with a threat of a shower. I cannot wait. I hope it pours.. It is SO very dry here, and we aren't allowed to water, not that I would anyway. They say we have the highest water bills in the state. Isn't that special? We hit 101 yesterday more of the same for the rest of the week,
one month of straight 99 and 100 degrees, where does it end?
I leave in a little while for the Vet's office, Sandy's surgery is for today.. I'll check in when I hear something.. Made the morning so please have some before you
leave, see you all later!

Morning Friends,
Can't stay long...gotta get ready shortly to take my bike in to the dealership. Got a 9 am appointment...as soon as they open this morning. Hubby and I loaded the bike last night, so we wouldn't have to be in a hurry this morning. Morning Perry! Yeah I think Friday is first day of summer....summer solistice. But hey, when it's hot, it's hot. LOL! We've got some nice temps this morning....so I'm not complaining today. LOL! Morning Elle....I'll keep little Sandy in my thoughts today. I'm sure she will go through the surgery with flying colors. I wish her a speedy recovery. Morning Vern, ETA and Greg..... I'll check back in later today. I gotta get moving.... |

Gooooood MORNING!!!!!
Well, I guess I am as used to this self-abuse as I am going to get. Exhaustion is my constant state, so much so that I am starting not to notice it! Suzanne starts her new second job tonight - Mon-Thursday and Saturday at a veterinary hospital. Through the week she will go straight from her full-time job and work there from 5 to 10 PM, and work day shift on Saturday. It's ugly, but it is what we have to do. Trouble is, with my schedules the ONLY nights I ever get off are Wednesday and Thursday, so we will hardly ever see each other. But so long as we can manage to keep the house, I suppose it is worth it. Maybe. I agree, Wine, that the Hawg is FAR too new to have a fuel/oil contamination problem. It is either a bad head gasket (best) or a bad head (far worse) or a defective block (replacement the ONLY option). Since dealers share some part of the warranty costs, the dealership has every reason to try to blow this off - but the factory rep has every reason to try to keep you a loyal customer. He KNOWS that all the Japanese manufacturers and the American-made Victory motorcycles make big low-riding V-twins that are so close to Harleys now that they have to watch out or they will lose their customer base. If the dealer does not get RIGHT to the bottom of this, demand to contact the factory representative - or this engine will have a very short, unhappy life. You may have to prove that red hair is real before this is over, you know! |

Hey Greg!
As always, it's good to see ya! I'm sorry to hear about the extra jobs...things are getting tough for everyone these days. It's getting ridiculous actually...and they are saying that there is no relief in sight. May God be with ya....give ya strength....and drop in here any time you get the chance. Hopefully we may see change with the next election. I don't know....all we can do is the best that we can. As for the Sporty....Hubby and I took it in this morning. 9 am appointment. The mechanic went to work immediately....flushed the oil tank...replaced the filter and fresh oil. Then run some compression tests on the engine to see if there were leaks, etc. He found nothing. Then he took the Sporty out for a run....came back...did some more compression tests....still found nothing. So....I dunno. The explanation that was given to me and Hubby was as follows: And I quote...."The Harley Sportster engines are the smaller engines. Therefore they work harder than the big 96 cubics. So when the Sporty engine is running, it is beating the hell out of the oil at a faster rate than the bigger engines....and gives the oil a frothy/foamy look. Also, the harder the oil is beaten, it will give off a 'gas' smell....being that it is a petroleum product. And sometimes, the oil will gain a gas smell because it picks up things throughout the engine and exhaust.".....end quote. So....that's what I know. I, however, did demand that today's service be put on record....and obtained a copy for myself....so that, God forbid, but if anything happens in the future, it IS documented that I brought the bike back within the warranty period with said complaints....and...dammit, they will replace the engine IF in the future, may God forbid, anything happens. (I'm not a mechanic...but I'm not stupid either.) LOL! They didn't charge me anything for today's service....the warranty is supposed to cover that. So I really don't know at this point. Hubby isn't seeing it that way. In short, he doesn't believe them. But really there's not too much we can do...other than ride the bike a while and see what happens. I can't complain about the service....they went straight to work...spent 2 1/2 hours on just my bike. I did physically see them running tests....Hubby did too. All we can do is ride and see what happens. I do have roadside assistance through HOG....plus the additional warranty on the bike once the original factory warranty ends. So............anyway..... OOOH! Have you seen some of those new Victory bikes???? AWESOME! Back last month, they had a 'wake' at the old dealership and we went. Several people came by riding the new Victory bikes. I'm not a big fan of the big dressers....but there was one there....totally awesome. Did you know that they have Arlen Ness in their design team now at Victory? (Yes. I'm totally into bikes at this point.) LOL! BTW, don't worry....at Four River Harley Davidson...they already know about my red hair.....LOL! |

We lost an hour coming to Ky. I do believe everything here is Eastern ?Standard Time. So, we missed breakfst, we missed almost everything. It
will take some getting used to.
We had a late super with our friends here, Alan and Denise. We closed down one restaurant. It was ony 11 , here, and they were rolling up the side walks. We are going out or breakfast. I am hungry. Denise just came by the computer. I told her I felt more and more at home here. We will visit Mom's grave. They forgot to put the date she died on her tombstone, so we will have to see that that gets done. Lexington has really grown since last we were here. Well, that is all there is to report so far... |
